Lecken is not just a party—it’s a movement. Known for its utopian ethos and radical inclusivity, this Berlin-based techno event transcends hedonism to celebrate the rich diversity within the queer community. For its highly anticipated post-sabbatical relaunch in November 2024, Dexter Red set out to design an unprecedented environment that would rebel against the dark, all-black aesthetic synonymous with Berlin’s techno scene.
The result was the Lecken Play Pit, a "social stage" where identity and connection took center stage. Repurposing Doppelstegplatten (multiwall sheets) from a previous art exhibition, Dexter Red crafted a two-story ambient arena that offered both division and unity. These materials refracted light and color like a jewel, transforming the space into a riot of vibrant hues and ever-changing imagery.
Using innovative lighting design, the space became a living canvas, radiating color and energy that mirrored the uniqueness of the gathering. It was a celebration of individuality and community, creating a kaleidoscopic refuge from the often-monochrome world of techno.
The Lecken Play Pit served as a defiant statement: a testament to the beauty of diversity and a radical reimagining of what a club space can be.
