Seriously Sustainable
Radical sustainability reimagined with Freight Forest, a trade show booth designed for Rail Cargo Group, the logistics subdivision of the ÖBB at Transport Logistic 2023 in Munich proposed a radical reaproach to trade fair design to communicate the brand's serious commitment to sustainable practices.
Constructed almost entirely from materials within RCG's existing storage inventory—such as shipping containers, pallets, and gitterboxes, the booth embraced a circular design ethos. Every component was either repurposed or planned for future reuse.
At the heart of the space was a lush forest landscape interwoven with the industrial materials, using real plants to craft an inviting and visually captivating environment. In commitment to the project's mission of responsibility, at the end of the project, all plants were returned to the local nursery in which they were sourced.
Key features included a reception area, discovery zones to explore RCG's innovative logistics solutions, a vegetarian-only café, and a VIP-lounge designed for executives.
The innovative design earned an honorable mention in Exhibitor Magazine's 38th Exhibit Design Awards in the Green Exhibition category and won the prestigious 2025 German Design Award.
