For the 2023 edition of Whole United Festival, the world's largest all queer electronic music festival, Dexter Red was tasked with creating an oasis of relaxation and recovery which he dubbed "The Chill Out Cove."
Despite a very challenging budget, he sought out to ensure ample soft seating for for up to 100 guests in a space that felt respectful to the vibrant culture of the festival. This proved to be an extremely challenging goal, but after extensive research and prototyping he arrived at a solution via custom built platforms that combine a standard recycled Europallet and Swim noodles. Pink and with red Tension straps to hold it all togther — simple, but bold and cheerful. As is typical to his work, these provide a modular infrastructure for the space and allow its guests to reconfigure the area to best suit their needs.  These seating elements  continue to be a standard presence at subsequent editions of the festival.
